Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall are both eyeing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Matthew Craig as a possible summer target, as per Football Insider. Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall both look as though they'll be playing Championship football when the start of the 2024/25 season comes around.

The Lions have mathematically confirmed their survival while the Owls are still only three points off the drop but their vastly better goal difference keeps them a safe distance clear of 22nd placed Birmingham City.

Attentions will soon turn to planning for the new campaign, and it is claimed one player on the radars of both second-tier sides is Tottenham Hotspur youngster Matthew Craig.

The 21-year-old Scot has thrived on loan at League Two side Doncaster Rovers over the second half of the season and Football Insider claims his performances have put him on the radars of Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall.

Craig has held down a starting spot in defensive midfield for Grant McCann's side over their charge to the play-offs. It's just his first senior loan, and he's cemented his place as a real prospect.

Latest Stories A big step up... Craig has made the transition from youth football to the senior game with aplomb and after such success, it only makes sense that he steps up from League Two for next season.

The rise from the fourth-tier to the Championship is a big one to make, so those involved with deciding his next steps will have to weigh up his next destination carefully.

If the second-tier does await Craig though, both Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall could be favourable destinations.

Danny Rohl has worked wonders at Hillsborough and a coach of his ilk could really help Craig develop further. He's progressed loan players well since his arrival, which could help the Owls in their bid to sign Craig.

Millwall though have had a Spurs loanee on the books in Japhet Tanganga, and that stint has proven fantastic form him after some challenging spells for the defender. Seeing how he's thrived at The Den could make the Lions a preferred option.

Time will tell just what the summer brings for Craig, but a step up the leagues should await him after his Doncaster Rovers spell.
