  • Club captain Shaun Hutchinson's future is under consideration
  • Hutchinson, who joined Millwall in 2016, is out of contract soon
  • Despite limited playing time, manager Neil Harris values Hutchinson

Millwall head coach Neil Harris has spoken about the contract situation and game time of club captain Shaun Hutchinson. The former Fulham centreback will be out of contract at the end of June.

Hutchinson has been with Millwall since signing in the summer of 2016 after being released by Fulham. He has made a total of 256 appearances for the Lions during his tenure. In this season's Championship campaign, he has played in only thirteen matches so far.

Recently, there have been indications that Hutchinson may not continue with Millwall beyond this season. However, despite his limited playing opportunities under Harris' management, the manager holds him in high regard due to his contribution as club captain and leader both on and off the pitch.

In an interview with South London Press, Harris emphasized that Hutchison remains an integral part of their recent success over the past eight weeks. While acknowledging that other defenders like Japhet Tanganga and Jake Cooper have performed exceptionally well recently leading to less playing time for Hutchison,

Harris also expressed admiration for how Hutchison handled himself upon returning from injury: training consistently every day while demonstrating strong leadership qualities within changing room dynamics.

The manager reassured fans by stating that he maintains a fantastic working relationship with Hutchison ever since bringing him into Millwall back in 2016. The door remains open for further discussions regarding a potential new deal between Hutchnson and the club. Harris expressed optimism and mentioned having positive conversations with Hutchinson about his future.

However, both parties have acknowledged that there is a lot to consider when players are out of contract. They recognize the importance of evaluating options from not only a club perspective but also from Hutchison's personal standpoint.

In conclusion, Neil Harris conveyed his fondness for working with Shaun Hutchinson and indicated that he looks forward to seeing how things unfold in the coming weeks regarding their ongoing discussions and potential agreement on extending Hutchinson's stay at Millwall.
