Newcastle in Guirassy hunt Newcastle are in the hunt for Stuttgart sensation Serhou Guirassy, according to Fussball Transfers. A staggering 17 goals in 14 Bundesliga games since making his Stuttgart switch permanent has made the 27-year-old one of Europe's most talked about strikers.
European heavyweights are on high alert as Guirassy has a reported PS15million buyout clause. Several Premier League clubs have been linked with the Guinean international - including Newcastle.
Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson have endured injury struggles on separate occasions for Eddie Howe this season. The Magpies were able to rotate the duo last year but a hectic schedule has caught up with them in 2023-24.
A fresh update from Gianluca di Marzio has claimed Newcastle are one of the clubs monitoring his situation. However, Guirassy's terms are proving to be an issue for any potential suitor.
Phillips loan fee 'not excessive' Football financial expert Kieran Maguire has outlined why a PS7.5million loan fee for Kalvin Phillips could make sense. ChronicleLive understands that is Manchester City's demands this month with the option for a permanent move in the summer.
"I don't think it's a reckless deal for Newcastle to make," he told Football Insider. "Newcastle's focus will be on achieving a top-four position and cheering on English clubs in Europe to try and release that fifth spot for the Champions League.
"If it turns out that Phillips makes a difference and Newcastle achieve a position where they get European football, then it pays for itself. As for Newcastle's FFP status, there is an element of wriggle room for them in January and we also have to look at the exit door.
"All of the focus has been on the club signings, whereas the whole point about having a player trading model means that sales are also likely. So I don't see a PS7.5million fee as excessive. It's the equivalent of signing Phillips for PS60million on a four-year deal, except they're only committing themselves for six months."
