Chelsea appear to have one Premier League club they can send one of their players to this month if they want to loan him out.
Andrey Santos is almost certain to return to Chelsea after a disappointing loan spell at Nottingham Forest this season. The midfielder has made just one appearance in the Premier League so far.
And now, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle United are interested in him. In his column for Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, he wrote: "I am told Newcastle enquired about Santos."
It is not quite clear how receptive Chelsea were to that enquiry, but it is quite obvious that Santos needs to get out of Forest and either stay at Stamford Bridge or join another club.
He has wasted half a season there but, at 19, he could still have a bright future.
It is why bringing in Santos, who is already a Brazil international, makes sense.

However, the Magpies are only one place above Chelsea in the Premier League table. They are rivals, so would the latter really be open to letting him join the former? Let us not forget that Mauricio Pochettino's side have had their own injury crisis this term as well, with Romeo Lavia still having fitness problems. Perhaps they could benefit from keeping the PS18m man (Daily Mail) around.
Again, the most important thing is that he comes back from Forest. For a player of his talent not to have even started one league game is quite disappointing.
Chelsea have to think very hard about where they send their footballers out on loan. What has happened with Santos is not good.
