Newcastle United have endured a very tough season, but there have been plenty of spectacular individual performances.
The Magpies' standout performer has been Anthony Gordon. The 23-year-old is enjoying a sensational campaign, and it has resulted in him being called up to the England squad for the first time in his career.
Bruno Guimaraes has also performed brilliantly, which led to Eddie Howe describing the Brazil international as world class.
They have been Newcastle's two best players, closely followed by Fabian Schar. However, none of them have been named in the Who Scored Premier League team of the season so far.
But one Newcastle United player has, and it is rather surprising.
He has an average rating of 7.18, which is better than any other right-back in the Premier League during the 2023/24 campaign.

Trippier is joined in the back four by Cristian Romero, Virgil van Dijk and Antonee Robinson, while Bukayo Saka has the highest average rating in the entire team. He has a score of 7.69, which is surprising.
But it is even more surprising to see Trippier in the team, given how much he struggled earlier in the season.

The 33-year-old suffered a miserable end to 2023, as he made major error after major error in a black and white shirt. He even admitted himself that he was not playing well enough, but has since stated that he has no reason why his form dipped so much.
Trippier cost Newcastle in some big moments, but appears to be over his troubled spell. The right-back had shown real signs of improvement before sustaining a calf injury that forced him to miss Newcastle's previous two games.
Away from December, it has been a strong season for Trippier. As Shay Given says, he has been 'absolutely brilliant', particularly in the final third. The Toon leader has been an assist machine, setting up 10 Premier League goals for Newcastle United this season.
