Dutch journalist Valentijn Driessen is sceptical of Newcastle United loanee Yankuba Minteh's willingness to stay at Feyenoord next season.
Newcastle signed Minteh last summer and immediately loaned him out to Feyenoord where he has been enjoying success this season. The Rotterdam club has expressed their interest in keeping him for another year and plans to hold talks with Newcastle regarding a potential extension of his loan spell. If given the opportunity, Minteh himself would love to continue playing for De Kuip. However, chief football writer of Dutch daily De Telegraaf, Valentijn Driessen doubts the sincerity behind Minteh's words. According to Driessen, when asked about staying at Feyenoord by supporters, it was only natural for Mintah to say what they wanted: "Mintah was immediately put back on the saddle and it’s all great," said Driesen during an interview on Kickoff Podcast (via VoetbalZone). He emphasized that communicating with a Feynooord audience influenced how he responded as saying otherwise could have resulted in negative reactions from fans.In terms of future decisions regarding his career path beyond this current campaign,Feynrood wishes first evaluate Miteh performances before making any final determinations.Newcastle alongsidewith representativeswill also participatein these assessments overthe upcoming summer months.
