Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United has been charged by the English Football Association (FA) for allegedly breaching betting rules 50 times last year.

He has until April 5 to respond to the charges, according to the FA.
"Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali has been charged by the English Football Association (FA) for allegedly breaching betting rules on multiple occasions. The charges specifically pertain to around fifty instances where Mr. Tonali is believed to have violated these regulations between August and October of last year. CNN reached out for a comment from his representatives but received no response as yet. Mr. Tonali must provide his response regarding these allegations before April fifth, as stated by the FA.
It's worth noting that this isn't Mr.Tonaili's first encounter with such issues; he was previously banned for ten months due similar violations while playing in Italy’s AC Milan team, though those offenses were unrelated. The current ban prevents him from representing both Newcastle and Italy at any level until August which means he will miss crucial matches including domestic campaigns with his club along with European Championships representing Italy.
In an attempt towards rehabilitation,Tonalli agreed upon undergoing therapy treatment targeted at gambling addiction based on statements provided by Reuters. Moreover, the player also took part in sixteen speaking engagements as part of community service activities.A statement released recently confirmed that Newcastle acknowledges all charges against their player stating "Sandro continues complying fully during ongoing investigations"."Due to this ongoing process,Sandro and Newcastle United are unable offer further comments currently," it added.
The FA declined making any remarks about whether new sanctions could be imposed concurrently alongside Tonali's existing ban.
Tonali isn't the only Premier League player who faced severe consequences due to bettingrelated misconduct. Ivan Toney, a striker from Brentford Football Club, returned after serving an eightmonth suspension for admitting 232 breaches of FA’s betting rules. Notably,Toney scored his first goal while representing England against Belgium earlier this week."
