Newcastle v West Ham highlights as late Barnes brace seals remarkable comeback victory

Newcastle United were dealt another huge injury blow after confirming that captain Jamaal Lascelles would be ruled out for "six to nine months".

The 30-year-old ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Saturday's pulsating 4-3 win over West Ham United, adding to manager Eddie Howe's extensive injury list. Lascelles has featured 26 times across all competitions this season after breaking back into the team to provide extra defensive cover.

The Magpies were already without Sven Botman due to the same issue, and the Dutchman could also spend as long as nine months on the sidelines.

"After seeing a specialist consultant, he is expected to undergo surgery next week and will be out for six-to-nine months.

"Everyone at Newcastle United extends their best wishes to Jamaal for a full and speedy recovery."

Newcastle moved into eighth in the Premier League following Saturday's win over The Hammers, but it came at a cost with Tino Livramento, Emil Krafth and Miguel Almiron all withdrawing injured.

Howe has also had to cope without Nick Pope since December due to a shoulder problem, while Lewis Miley and Kieran Trippier are also ruled out.

Meanwhile, Anthony Gordon will miss Newcastle's next match at home to Everton on Tuesday - live on TNT Sports and discovery+ - after his sending off in that victory over West Ham.
