Arsenal and Manchester City will have to fork out over PS80 million to sign Newcastle United mainstay Bruno Guimaraes. According to a report by 90min, Arsenal and Manchester City are keen on acquiring the services of Bruno Guimaraes as they look to reinforce their midfielder ahead of next season. The 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder has a massive release clause in his contract but he could be available for a lower fee in the summer.

Guimaraes has established himself as one of the mainstays in the Newcastle team since joining them in the winter of 2022 from Olympique Lyon. He has been a consistent performer for them and has made quite a name for himself.

While the club have failed to reach the heights they did last season, the Brazilian international has surely done his bit. The defensive midfielder has featured in 45 games this season and he has contributed towards 10 goals in his 3,910 minutes of first-team action.

Guimaraes's potential departure from Newcastle His contract with the Magpies runs until the summer of 2028 and there is a massive PS100 million release clause in his deal. Despite that, he could be on the move in the upcoming transfer window as the Magpies are willing to consider offers above PS80 million for the 26-year-old.

There is a verbal agreement between the player and the club where the Magpies have agreed to listen to offers over PS80 million from clubs that are in the Champions League. Newcastle are in need of raising funds to balance their books and they would prefer selling one of their stars for a big fee rather than losing out on multiple players. As a result, Guimaraes' departure could be on the cards.

Manchester City & Arsenal are pushing for Guimaraes Manchester City and Arsenal are keen to battle it out for his signatures. Both clubs are always on the lookout for ways to bolster their squad and they feel the Newcastle defensive midfielder could do wonders for them.

Kalvin Phillips doesn't have a future at City and Bernardo Silva could also be on the move in the summer. As a result, pushing for the services of someone like Guimaraes surely makes a lot of sense.

As far as Arsenal are concerned, Arteta wants more control in the centre of the park. With Thomas Partey and Jorginho's future at the North London club uncertain, they are looking for an experienced midfielder who can help them compete with the very best.

Guimaraes has done a great job in the English top flight so far and he could be a great addition to both teams. As a result, it will be interesting to see who comes on top in this race.
