It was a long, drawn out saga but after over a year's worth of speculation, Bayern Munich finally managed to seal the deal and sign Nestory Irankunda from A-League side Adelaide United. However, due to certain regulations, Irankunda was required to stay at Adelaide United until this summer before being able to move to Munich. Which means that the A-League All Star game against Newcastle United was his A-League sendoff.

While he did not play for too long, gathering a measly 18 minutes as the A-League rotated through all its' best players, those 18 minutes were enough to leave a big impression on Newcastle manager Eddie Howe. Speaking after the game, @iMiaSanMia captured what Howe had to say: "I thought [Irankunda] was really impressive. I was aware of him before the game and know that he's off to Bayern. I certainly wish him well in that journey. It's an incredible football club to move to. It's a big step, but he showed he's got definite qualities."

It is a shame the match was marred by Newcastle's marathon of friendlies right after the Premier League season ended, a practice that lead to Newcastle lining up with completely inexperienced players, rendering the event a complete mismatch and getting drubbed 8-0 as a result. Friendlies are usually an exercise in making money but few times has it been as blatant as this match. This is what happens when money takes total precedence over football.

The time they are a changin' at Bayern Munich. Vincent Kompany looks like he is taking over in Bavaria, while the club's former favorite son - Hansi Flick - is heading to FC Barcelona. Which one will make out better with their new club? We'll find out, but in the meantime, there could also be some Bayern players who are on Flick's transfer radar, too. basically, we've got a lot to talk about with all of that, plus some appreciation for Bayer Leverkusen's incredible season.
