It looks like Newcastle United have been dealt yet another blow to their summer transfer plans a "not for sale" sign gets slapped on another target.

Newcastle have long held an interest in Atalanta's defensive midfielder Ederson with a PS50million approach mooted in January before Newcastle decided to bide their time.

That was a move that could well come back to haunt the Magpies after Atalanta went on to win the Europa League with Ederson starring in the final.

The 24-year-old was already a prize asset for the Bergamo club, but their European victory has given them more power to keep hold of their top players after previously being seen as a selling club.

Atalanta want to keep hold of Ederson Atalanta don't want to break up their Europa League-winning side A report from TuttoMercato now says that Atalanta have deemed Ederson 'untransferable' especially as they are likely to lose his midfield partner Teun Koopmeiners this summer.

Atalanta don't want to break up their impressive team but are aware that it may be impossible to keep the entire squad together, but they will try to minimise the damage by keeping hold of Ederson.

Their belief is that they won't find anyone of a similar quality to fill the void he'll leave.

Newcastle should do whatever it takes to land Ederson Our feeling is that Newcastle won't be deterred by this. They've had Ederson on their radar for a long time now and interest from other clubs is ramping up.

If they don't make a move now, they could lose him altogether.

It may take PS50million or even more to bring the Brazilian to Tyneside but he would be such a huge signing, the club should do whatever they can to make this one happen in our humble opinion.
