AFC Wimbledon are preparing for tonight's League Two fixture against Accrington Stanley, but has mixed news about players returning from injury.

They welcome the news that Josh Davison will be back in contention, but experienced defender Lee Brown will not be available.

The Dons are without a win in three, and welcome one of the form sides in the division to Plough Lane, as Stanley have won three straight to put themselves just above their hosts in seventh place.

Mixed Injury News

Where Brown is still nursing a back injury, it is Davison who comes back into the squad after having to leave the travelling party early from their long trip to Barrow at the weekend, for personal reasons.

Talking to the club's Official Website after Monday's training, assistant manager Terry Skiverton gave the news. "Josh is fit and available for the game. It was one of those things as he had to shoot home. For us, it was good to have him back in today.

"Browny is not close to coming back. We're monitoring him and hopefully, he should be ready to return to the grass maybe in a week or two."

Terry had news of a player back in contention on Monday, but also of one still unavailable.

Knowing the importance of returning to winning ways, Skiverton also was wary of the opposition, and their current run of form. "John Coleman and his assistant Jimmy Bell have done a fantastic job over the years there. Accrington have always had a good, fighting spirit about them, play good football and are well organised.

For us, it's a tough game, but we're on a decent trajectory, we're playing well, and the performances are good. We want to keep a clean sheet at home, score goals and give our supporters something to get behind. It's important for us to put in a good performance to try and get all three points."

Other players have put themselves in a good position to contend for places. "Connor Evans trained again and he's getting closer. We didn't really pick up any injuries at the weekend, so apart from Browny we go into it with a fully fit squad.

"Paul Kalambayi has been showing how strong and fit he is. Huseyin Biler is champing at the bit! He's ready and on Saturday we could have brought him on at either right back or left back, so for us, we've got really good options within the squad at the moment."

AFC Wimbledon will want to turn their recent form around and get some wins instead of draws. This though will be a tough game. And it is at home, where they continue to struggle. The return of Davison will help, but he has been playing a backup role for most of the season, and only starting when Ali Al-Hamadi has been away on international duty.

With a near full squad to choose from the Dons will have no excuses in the coming weeks if they are to show that they are promotion contenders this season.
