Newcastle United transfer target Marc Guehi has made a decision about his immediate Crystal Palace future.

The 23-year-old is currently away on international duty, helping England reach the semi finals of Euro 2024. The Crystal Palace defender has been one of the Three Lions' best players, but was suspended for the penalty shootout win over Switzerland on Saturday.

Marc Guehi will likely return to the England XI against Netherlands, as Gareth Southgate's men aim to reach a second consecutive Euros final. But no matter what happens, Guehi's reputation has been massively enhanced by the tournament in Germany.

He has been a star for Crystal Palace for a few years, but now more people are taking notice of his quality.

His talent is no secret to Newcastle, as Dan Ashworth actually wanted to sign Guehi before he left to become Man United's sporting director. Links with a move to Tyneside have continued in Ashworth's absence, with Newcastle interested in signing Guehi this summer.

A move away from Selhurst Park for Guehi is expected, and a new report has shared more details on the centre-back's future.

Marc Guehi's Crystal Palace contract decision Guehi has a contract with Crystal Palace that runs until 2026. With two years left, the Eagles are not under pressure to sell. However, they are hoping to extend his stay with the club.

But that is reportedly not something that Guehi is interested in.

According to the Sun, Guehi has no intention of signing a new contract with Crystal Palace. They state that the defender wants to explore his options, despite Palace's desire to hand him a new deal that will include a release clause.

Big summer ahead for Crystal Palace Given his performances at Euro 2024, there will likely be a lot of interest in a player who is valued at PS50million.

That would make him affordable for Newcastle, with the Magpies having a PS100million transfer budget this summer.

While Palace obviously want to keep Guehi, this summer might be a good time to sell if his desire to not sign a new contract continues. His stock is higher than ever, which gives the Eagles a better chance at getting a good price.

However, their stance might be dictated by what happens to their other stars. They have already lost Michael Olise to Bayern Munich, while there is speculation over Eberechi Eze's future. He is also a player who Toon officials have considered, with Newcastle discussing a possible move for Eze earlier this summer.

Newcastle feel likely to look elsewhere While a deal for Guehi would fit within Newcastle's PS100million budget, a large portion of that will need to go towards a winger. It has been reported that the Magpies' top target is Jarrod Bowen, and the West Ham star certainly will not be cheap.

With that in mind, it would be a shock to see Guehi arrive at St James' Park.

He would be an amazing signing and a fantastic partner for Sven Botman, who is currently out of action with injury. However, it has been reported that Botman is ahead of schedule as he recovers from a knee injury.

With the money that would be required, it feels unlikely that Newcastle will bid to pair Botman with Guehi. A more likely target is AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw, who has been linked with a move to Tyneside.

Thiaw could be available to Newcastle for PS34million, which is a lot less than what Guehi would cost. That might make him more desirable, even if Guehi's performances at the Euros have Toon fans wishing for a transfer to Tyneside.
