Report: How much Nottingham Forest actually paid Newcastle for Elliot Anderson
Source: Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest landed Elliot Anderson earlier this summer and yesterday he made his debut during a pre-season friendly win over Chesterfield.

Anderson played the opening 45 minutes and made some classy touches as Forest went in goalless at the half-time interval.

The talented player was sold to Forest by Newcastle amid their battle to stay within the PSR parameters set by the Premier League.

Letting Anderson go was a mistake according to Shay Given and ultimately Forest might have got themselves a gem.

Now, a report has made an intriguing claim about the transfer fee that Forest paid for Anderson - and it makes for exciting reading.

However, those reports might have been wide of the mark with a new claim being made in the last 24 hours.

MORE FOREST STORIES

The Telegraph now claims that Forest have paid just PS15 million to land Anderson and that represents ridiculously good business.

Anderson grew up at Newcastle and burst onto the first-team scene under Eddie Howe who trusted him to play in the Champions League last season.

Now, Forest are hoping to reap the rewards of his progression as a player and it will be fascinating to see what sort of player he becomes under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Forest switch strategy in transfer market This is a Forest that we can get behind and it would appear that the days of a scattergun approach in the transfer market are long gone.

Forest have been looking at Nikola Milenkovic of late and once again, that would also represent a positive addition.

Anderson does feel like a wonderful signing for Forest and he's a player who has arrived with the next few years in mind.

The fact that it seems the club has only paid PS15 million for a player with Premier League quality is ridiculously good business.

Now, hopefully, Forest can finalise their squad with a few more quality additions and aim to kick on in the league next season.
