Paul Mitchell is seriously impressed with Eddie Howe, despite Newcastle United's slow start to the season.

Incredibly, Newcastle United are unbeaten so far, with Eddie Howe's side looking far from convincing in their opening four games in league and cup.

Newcastle were nowhere near their best when they beat Tottenham, and the hope is that the Magpies are going to steadily get better as the season goes on.

For Eddie Howe, it will be up to him to get the most out of his players - most of which were with him last season.

That is because his squad has not really been strengthened, with Paul Mitchell failing to make any major signings in his first summer as Toon sporting director.

Despite this, Paul Mitchell still thinks Newcastle can qualify for Europe, and that is possibly because of what he has seen from Howe on the training ground.

Paul Mitchell hails Eddie Howe's coaching at Newcastle United Following Newcastle's disappointing transfer window, Mitchell has been speaking to the media.

He has been addressing his relationship with Eddie Howe, and expressed his admiration for him as a coach.

"But that doesn't mean it's wrong.

Positive conflict is still healthy to move forward and that part of the relationship can't be all Eddie's way or Paul Mitchell's way, it's got to be a collaboration of both.

"What I've seen of Eddie Howe and how good a coach he is, he is super impressive on the grass - and I've got pretty good context with the ones I've worked with - and what I think I can bring to the table, I'm excited to see where that can take us.

"Newcastle have to retain Eddie Howe amid England interest Given how good he is on the training pitch, it is absolutely vital that Newcastle officials retain the services of Howe.

This comes at a time when he is being linked with the England job following Gareth Southgate's departure.

Jamie Carragher wants Eddie Howe to be the England manager, and it would be a major loss if he were to leave St James' Park.

Given Newcastle's spending struggles, it is vital they have a manager who can get as much as possible out of the resources at his disposal.

Howe does exactly that, and has taken so many of his Newcastle players to incredible heights.

His main talent is on the training pitch, which is where it allows Howe to improve his players.

The Newcastle United manager has already impressed Mitchell with his coaching, and it should serve as an early reminder that the sporting director must do his best to convince Howe to stay on Tyneside if an offer from England comes his way.
