Everton keeper Jordan Pickford saves Anthony Gordon penalty for Newcastle [@SkySportsPL on X]

Everton have taken a cheeky dig at Anthony Gordon's penalty miss for Newcastle United with a new social media post.
The former Toffees winger was roundly jeered by the Goodison Park faithful in Saturday's goalless draw and the home fans celebrated when his first-half spot-kick was saved by England team-mate Jordan Pickford.
Following the game, an Everton supporter posted on X to say they wish a "buzzer" noise posted during the half-time interval, akin to the one heard on popular TV show Family Fortunes, had been played over the tannoy system when Gordon's effort was saved.
The club's social media team duly obliged themselves with a post on their official X account on Sunday (6 October) doing exactly that, dubbing the buzzer sound over the video clip when Pickford makes the save.
Everton poke fun at unpopular ex-Toffee Anthony Gordon It is fair to say that Gordon is a wildly unpopular figure on the blue half of Merseyside following his acrimonious departure from Goodison Park in January 2023.
His status as a pantomime villain would only have been entrenched had he netted what could have been a potentially match-winning spot-kick for the Magpies at Goodison Park.
But thankfully for the Evertonians, we didn't get to witness how the 23-year-old would have celebrated because he was thwarted by his Three Lions cohort Pickford in a moment that drew a huge roar from the home fans.
Needless to say, it was a moment that has proven extremely popular with the fanbase and the Everton social team clearly wanted to get involved too with some gentle mocking of the former Toffee.

It's all in pretty good fun, though, and let's be honest, if it was the other way around we know for sure Gordon would have given it the big beans.
In other Everton news, Gary Lineker can't believe footage he was shown of the Newcastle game live on Match of the Day.
