Kieran Trippier insists that Newcastle United's defeat at AFC Bournemouth should not be regarded as a "shock result".
The Cherries picked up only their second Premier League victory of the season with a 2-0 win over a fatigued and injury hit Toon side. Trippier was involved in a fan exchange at the end of the encounter at the Vitality Stadium but played down talk of a spat afterwards.
Trippier said after the game: "I would not say it is a shock, Bournemouth are a good team you always respect the opposition and they played a good game and we were not ourselves.
"We have to think about it over the international break and come back. Bournemouth had a good game plan and deserved to win the game."
Newcastle now have a two-week break before they go into their top-flight encounter with Chelsea at St James' Park.
Trippier said: "The international break has come at the right time for the team and to have some down time and refresh then come back. After the break it will be relentless again. We are not panicking and we must stick together."
Newcastle hope that Alexander Isak will be back from a groin issue while Miguel Almiron's hamstring injury must also be assessed.
