Report: What people close to Sven Botman are now saying about his injury
Source:Geordiebootboys

Newcastle United defender Sven Botman has missed the Magpies' last 11 games with injury, but there could suddenly be light at the end of the tunnel.

The last time we saw Sven Botman play was the 8-0 drubbing of Sheffield United. It was probably one of Botman's easiest outings as a Newcastle player, and he even managed to score his first goal for the club.

Since then, he has been plagued by a knee injury that has been difficult to diagnose. There have been worrying updates from Eddie Howe, who has been unable to give a clear indication on when he will be back playing in a black and white shirt.

While Howe is normally ambiguous with regards to injuries, the noise surrounding Botman was not positive. The lack of clarity was concerning, and hinted at a lengthy layoff.

However, a fresh update from the Athletic suggests that we could soon see the 23-year-old back in action.

The Athletic add that they have spoke to people who are close to the Dutchman, and they hope that he is going to be back shortly after the international break.

That is certainly a positive update at a time when Newcastle's squad is decimated by injuries. The latest two to fall are Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron, with Eddie Howe looking distressed at the amount of injuries he has.

But with talk that Botman's return could be right around the corner, that will ease some of Howe's fears.

Botman is a top class centre-back, and arguably the best at the club. However, Newcastle have not massively struggled in his absence.

Jamaal Lascelles has came into the side and played brilliantly, reminding everyone of his qualities. He has played at a level that not many thought he was capable of.

In truth, it would be harsh to drop Lascelles in favour of a returning Botman, and that could be a big decision that Howe has to make in the near future. He will relish that decision, as it means that his squad is healing.
