The international break is now in full swing and several Manchester City players have been in action over the past 24 hours.

Erling Haaland, Rodri and Ederson were among the City players representing their respective countries this week. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola remains in Manchester and will be working on getting his players back in form, following consecutive Premier League defeats.

The Blues currently sit third in the Premier League following last weekend's defeat at Arsenal. Guardiola's men will host Brighton next Saturday as they return to domestic action. Here's the latest City headlines.

Grealish injury

Jack Grealish says the injury which kept him out at City's recent matches was among the most painful he's ever suffered. The attacker picked up a dead leg against Sheffield United and said the City doctors had described it as the worst injury of its kind that he'd seen.

He endured a spell on crutches and it took several weeks of rehabilitation at the City Football Academy to firstly get over the initial injury, and then get back to full fitness.

Grealish returned to City's starting lineup against RB Leipzig and is now in contention to feature for England in their games against Australia and Italy at Wembley in the coming days.

Grealish explained how while the knock might have seemed innocuous at the time, it became one of his most difficult to recover from in his career.

Doku verdict

Stade de Reims left-back Thibault De Smet insists Jeremy Doku is 'one of the best' wingers he has ever faced.

Doku arrived at City in the summer, signing a five-year deal following the agreement of a PS55.5million deal with Rennes. The 21-year-old has enjoyed an excellent start to life in Manchester, scoring twice in eight appearances and providing a fresh problem for Premier League defenders.

City's wingers in recent seasons have all had a similar profile, opting to drift inside and play centrally. But Doku remains a more traditional wide option, using his electric pace to dart past full-backs and deliver - something he does better than anybody else in the world.

"I remember well that Thomas Foket [right-back] and I were talking about Doku before the match," De Smet told Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad. "When we saw that he started the match, we said to each other: hopefully he is on your side, or it will be a long match."
