Nottingham Forest let Remo Freuler head to Bologna in the summer and last night he starred for Switzerland. The 31-year-old played the full 90 minutes as his country were held to a 3-3 draw by Belarus.
It didn't come as a shock when Freuler was allowed to leave the City Ground ranks. He didn't play a single minute of the final six games during 2022/23 and the writing appeared to be on the wall.
Freuler stars for Switzerland yesterday This wasn't a convincing performance from the Swiss by any means yesterday. Still, they did manage to avoid defeat and that did see them show an element of character in their performance.
Freuler was praised for his efforts by Swiss outlet 20Min. He was rated a 3/5 and they claimed: "The match practice in Bologna seems to be doing Remo Freuler good. He shone again and again with strong ball wins and his pressing. But his offensive efforts fizzled out again and again."

Switzerland are still nicely poised to win qualification for Euro 2024. They sit second in Group I and have three matches remaining to try and cement their place at next summer's tournament.
Forest will hope Freuler stays in form for Bologna It came as a bit of a surprise that Forest weren't able to sell Freuler during the summer transfer window. Still, getting some of his wages off the books is a good thing and they will hope that a permanent deal can be struck further down the line.
Ultimately, the player just didn't suit the pragmatic style that Cooper opted for. As a result, he was found out somewhat and struggled to make much of an impact on the Premier League at all.
