Nottingham Forest midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has been discussing his City Ground exit during the summer transfer window. The Reds allowed the 31-year-old to join Rizespor in Turkey on a season-long loan during the summer.

Shelvey only signed for Forest in the January transfer window from Newcastle United. He arrived on a free transfer after spending seven years at St James' Park but only made eight appearances for Forest.

Shelvey admits upset at Forest stint The midfielder gets a bit of a bad reputation at times. However, if it's true and there has been a disagreement with Cooper, then it's not a surprise to see him frozen out of the Forest fold.

Shelvey has been speaking with Chronicle Live about his time at Forest. They claim that the midfielder was 'hurt massively' after being told that he 'wasn't going to play' by the club in the summer.

Ultimately, he must now rediscover himself in Turkey and see what comes next when that loan deal expires in the summer. Forest recruited well in the summer and it's fair to say he won't be featuring for the Reds again.

Shelvey will go down as one of the worst signings of Cooper's tenure Some transfers work, others simply don't and Forest landing Shelvey fits under the latter. It just hasn't worked out for him and he wasn't really the type of player that Cooper needed in order to pull clear of relegation.

The Reds will hope to learn from this transfer going forward. Shelvey is edging towards the end of his career and ultimately, he will know deep down that he's now played his last game for Forest.
