Brennan Johnson sends Nottingham Forest 'confidence' warning ahead of Spurs game
Source:Football

Former Nottingham Forest man Brennan Johnson is gearing up to face his old team on Sunday with increased confidence as Tottenham look to get back to winning ways after a 1-1 draw with West Ham on Tuesday.

The match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, will be a reunion of sorts as Johnson, a graduate of the Nottingham Forest Academy. He completed a move to Spurs from the City Ground in the summer.

Forest came out as 3-1 winners over Fulham on Tuesday night, at the same time Johnson was scoring for Spurs his team in the draw against West Ham United at the London Stadium. Despite taking a knock and being substituted late in the game, the Wales international assured everyone he was okay, making him likely to play against Forest.

"I think it's all good," Johnson told the TNT Sport cameras after the match. "It was just from a corner. I am not sure who it was but I got a kick in my knee and it stiffened up a bit. But it's fine, I'm good."

Johnson has scored five goals in the Premier League so far this season. The 22-year-old believes he is growing under the guidance of manager Ange Postecoglou, as part of a team aiming for a Champions League spot.

"Every week for me it is more and more learning," he added. "When I came to this club there was so much to learn from me and so much development. Every week I feel more confident and I'm getting into better areas so if I can keep trying to score and assist, I'm very happy with that.

"It's a very exciting team - a lot of good young players with a lot of quality and we just need more time to gel, I think. We want to finish the season as strong as we can.

"It's exciting. We thrive for the opportunities to play against the best teams and we want to test ourselves against everyone.

"We keep playing our football. We have a lot of tough games coming up, and we are really excited for it. Hopefully we can get as many points out of it to finish the season as strong as we can."
