Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper is now on the radar to replace Gareth Southgate as the England manager. The Reds' head coach is in the mix along with other high-profile managers.

Southgate looks likely to walk away from England after next summer's Euro 2024 competition. The next appointment will be a big one and it will need to be someone who can unearth the best out of a talented squad.

Forest head coach Cooper on radar of England This perhaps isn't a major surprise. Cooper is one man who does know how to win a tournament with an international side; albeit at Under-17 level with the Forest man winning the World Cup.

Cooper's record with the under-17 ranks was pretty impressive. He led the team to 45 wins in 66 games before quitting in 2019 to embark on his first job in senior football with Swansea.

Now, according to 90Min, the Forest man is firmly in the sights of England. However, he's not the only name to be mentioned with Newcastle boss Eddie Howe and Manchester City chief Pep Guardiola also under consideration.

Cooper could get England gig one day The 43-year-old shouldn't be in a rush to take the England job. He is still a relative novice in men's football and there will be plenty of time for him to take up such a position in the future.

Cooper won't be thinking about it just yet either, with work to do at Forest. After landing the job in September 2021 he's overseen a lot and after landing several new players in the summer he will be excited at what is to come in the future.

England will naturally have Cooper on their radar given the work he's done there before. However, that might have to wait for now, with Forest needing the head coach more than the Three Lions do.
