Nottingham Forest handed injury worry ahead of Luton clash

Nottingham Forest have been handed an injury worry over full-back Gonzalo Montiel ahead of the weekend's Premier League clash with Luton Town.

The 26-year-old is one of a number of players who have been on international duty over the last two weeks, as he joined up with the Argentina squad. He was an unused substitute for the 1-0 win over Paraguay on Friday night.

But the Forest man was given a chance to impress on Tuesday evening when he was named in the starting line-up for the World Cup qualifier against Peru. Lionel Messi scored both of Argentina's goals in a 2-0 win, but Montiel lasted for just over half an hour.

According to Argentinian outlet La Pagina Millionaria, on the 30-minute mark, the Forest man started making gestures to the bench indicating that he had picked up an injury. He was replaced a few minutes later, with pain said to be evident as he left the pitch.

The update will come as a worry to Steve Cooper and his team who are back in action this weekend when they host newly-promoted Luton Town at the City Ground. Montiel has made four appearances for the club since a summer move and replaced the injured Serge Aurier at half time against Crystal Palace.

There is also doubt over the availability of Ola Aina, which means that Forest could be without up to three right-backs for the game against Luton, leaving Neco Williams as the only fit option. The Welshman has not featured since the 1-0 Carabao Cup loss against Burnley back in August, where he played at left-back.

Williams is currently away on international duty with Wales. The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes of the nation's crucial 2-1 win over Croatia in the Euros qualifiers on Sunday.
