Nottingham Forest defender Murillo has revealed that he told teammate Andrey Santos that he was going to score against Crystal Palace if he had the opportunity to do so.
The Brazilian centre-back has burst onto the scene in the last two games after being included in the starting XI for the first time vs Brentford. The 21-year-old impressed in that game which ended in a 1-1 draw, but it was in the goalless stalemate vs Palace where he really caught the eye.
One moment in particular has been talked about, with Murillo picking up the ball and dribbling past a number of players before getting his shot off. He was only denied by Sam Johnstone in the Palace goal.
"I never really imagined that I would get an opportunity like that, but I did say to my team-mate Andrey (Santos) before the game, 'if the space opens up, I'm going to go and score!'" the defender told Sky Sports.
"Andrey was like, 'go for it!', so we said we would see what happened.
"I had the ball and I dribbled past one defender, past another defender. I'm coming up to the box, I take out another defender and at that point I'm thinking, 'I can't believe it! I'm going to score!'
"I hit the shot with my laces and the ball curved towards the goalkeeper. I think if I had hit it with my toe, or with my instep, it would have been a goal. When I watch it back, I imagine myself having scored the goal, running to the fans to celebrate..."
The defender could have another chance to score his first goal for the club when Forest take on newly-promoted Luton at the City Ground on Saturday. The Reds are currently in 13th place in the Premier League table, having won two, drawn three, and lost three of their opening eight games of the season.
