Nottingham Forest could hijack Wolves' move to sign forward Che Adams this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke revealed Forest are pushing to lure Adams to the City Ground ahead of his contract at Southampton expiring later this month.
Football Insider revealed on 5 June Wolves have offered the Scotland international a contract after opening talks with him last month.
But Adams is still in negotiations over a new deal with Southampton following their promotion back to the Premier League.
O'Rourke admitted Russell Martin's side would "love" to keep the forward this summer after he's spent the past five years in Hampshire.
But the 27-year-old will leave St Mary's on a free transfer at the end of this month if a deal can't be agreed, with Forest and Wolves racing to secure his signature.

O'Rourke suggested a deal for Adams would go a long way towards helping Forest's profit and sustainability (PSR) situation this summer as money is expected to be tight at the City Ground.
Nuno Espirito Santo's side are on the brink of their allowable PSR losses as they prepare to submit their accounts on 30 June.
Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider on 15 June the Nottingham club must make PS20million profit from player sales before the end of the month to avoid another points deduction.
