Nottingham Forest are planning to accept an offer for defender Joe Worrall as they look to ease their financial concerns, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke revealed Championship clubs are interested in signing the 27-year-old as his days at the City Ground appear to be numbered.

Football Insider revealed on 6 June Sheffield United have registered their interest in Worrall after they were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Forest have told the 27-year-old he is free to find a new club this summer after he spent the second half of last season on loan with Turkish side Besiktas.

Football Insider revealed on 1 June the Premier League club would accept a bid of around PS4million for Worrall's services.

The English centre-back is likely to leave the City Ground in the coming weeks despite his contract running until 2026, and a deal could be done by 30th June.

Joe Worrall could leave Nottingham Forest to ease PSR concerns Worrall has spent the past 13 years with Forest after joining the club's academy in 2011 before progressing through to the first team.

The Nottingham-born defender went on to become a mainstay in the backline at the City Ground and helped the club secure their long-awaited return to the Premier League two years ago.

The former England youth international was named club captain in 2022, but he saw his opportunities restricted following the arrival of Nuno Espirito Santo in December.

Worrall is now expected to leave the Premier League side permanently this summer on the back of his loan spell at Besiktas, where he made just six starts over the past few months.

Nottingham Forest Forest are on the brink of their allowable profit and sustainability (PSR) losses as they prepare to submit their accounts on 30 June.

Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider on 15 June the Nottingham club must make PS20million profit from player sales before the end of the month to avoid another points deduction.
