Report: Nottingham Forest are interested in signing 'sensational' England international again…
Source:Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's summer transfer window has gotten off to a flying start with players coming in and out of the club.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side were one of the clubs who were at risk of facing punishment had they not balanced their books against PSR.

Forest have seen three players arrive at the City Ground already this summer not even a month into the window.

Elliot Anderson is the big name which has landed at Forest this summer after signing from Newcastle United over the weekend.

However, that is not slowing Evangelos Marinakis down in the market with Forest now looking at an England international as their next potential addition.

A number of players have already departed with the likes of Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala providing Forest financial relief.

Goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos also left the club for Newcastle United following the deal struck between the two clubs for Anderson.

And this has only added to Forest's issues between the sticks going into the new campaign.

According to Sky Sports, Forest are now keen to reignite their January interest in Crystal Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

Nuno's side showed their interest in Johnstone during the winter window as their focus remained on finding themselves a new goalkeeper.

Matz Sels was signed instead but Forest now need to add another goalkeeper to their squad after Vlachodimos' departure.

Forest could land England international in Sam Johnstone Johnstone was not able to compete in this summer's European Championship due to picking up an elbow injury.

The 31-year-old has earned four caps for England over his career and would have certainly been in contention to make the squad to travel to Germany this summer.

However, he did rack up 20 appearances in the Premier League last season with injury curtailing his efforts.

And this is still a player who has been labeled as "sensational" by the likes of Gary Lineker in recent years for his efforts in the top flight.
