Exciting winger offers Newcastle United 'something else' as transfer verdict given
Source: Chronicle Live:

Former Newcastle United goal hero Andy Cole has backed Anthony Elanga to shine on Tyneside should the Magpies follow up their interest in the Nottingham Forest winger.

The 22-year-old Swedish winger has impressed at the City Ground since signing from Manchester United, and is one of a number of widemen linked with the Magpies this summer. Forest are believed to be keen to keep hold of their prize asset, but a signficant bid could make them reconsider their stance.

Newcastle are looking for options on the right-hand side of their forward line, with Miguel Almiron the subject of interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia. And Cole has backed Elanga to make the step up to Eddie Howe's squad, should the Magpies decide to make a move in this summer's transfer window.

"It would be a good move to be fair," Cole told Betfred. "Since he left Manchester United, he's got his head down and had a very good first season at Nottingham Forest in a team that struggled in their second season back in the Premier League.

"In the games I watched him play in for Nottingham Forest, I saw him bring something else because he has that pace, he's very direct and he can pick people out in the box. If that move does happen, then he could be a good replacement for Anthony Gordon if he moves on.

"He's young, still learning and very enthusiastic. You never know what could happen but I do like him and if it does happen, it would be a good move for Newcastle."
