Report: Nottingham Forest want player praised by Fabio Cannavaro who almost joined Inter last…

Nottingham Forest are set to sign Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina and now another Serie A player is on the radar.

Forest have booked a medical for Milenkovic on Wednesday and the deal looks to be very close to completion.

Gianluca Di Marzio first claimed that the deal was close and Forest have now got their man it would seem.

The recruitment team appear to have got busy in the last week or so and now another name has emerged.

Forest have so far added three players to their ranks - with Milenkovic set to be signing number four - and things are starting to really heat up.

Now, Udinese midfielder Samardzic is the latest to be linked with a move to Forest, reports Football Italia.

MORE FOREST STORIES

The Serbian played two games at Euro 2024 featuring in the same team as Milenkovic during the tournament.

A 22-year-old who can play as a central midfielder or a number 10, Samardzic has been with Udinese for three years since joining from Leipzig.

Last season he played a large chunk of his football as a conventional midfielder and scored six goals, registering two assists also.

Samradzic almost joined Inter last summer but couldn't reach an agreement with the San Siro giants despite passing a medical.

Samardzic looks talented but do Forest really need him? A new midfielder perhaps shouldn't be the priority for Forest this summer but then if good players are available, why not?

Given his age, Samardzic once again ticks a lot of boxes and he'd join a group of players who are around the same age.

The tricky performer has been praised by Italian great Fabio Cannavaro before.

He told the Italian press back in April: "It is clear that Samardzic is the most talented player we have. It's been harder for him this year, but that's normal because once you're known on the field, it's tougher."

Samardzic would likely be available for transfer this summer and it now remains to be seen whether or not a deal can be struck between the clubs.
