Player snubbed deadline €15m move to Nottingham Forest because he didn’t see it as progress

Nottingham Forest were one of a number of clubs who failed to sign Valencia's Andre Almeida in the summer window.

That's according to journalist Hector Gomez, who states the Reds made an offer to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy.

The 24-year-old 'turned down' Nottingham Forest. He also didn't entertain calls from Real Betis and Girona, in order to continue at Mestalla.

Gomez has provided more updates on Nottingham Forest's failed pursuit for Golsmedia. The midfielder's game time last season was restricted partly due to an injury. Despite this, he still managed to attract interest from other clubs.

The Portuguese's desire has been to succeed at Valencia, which is why he turned down a EUR2.5m per year deal from MLS in July. He also rejected Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

Nottingham Forest wanted to sign him on loan with a mandatory purchase option set at EUR15m. The Premier League side's offer arrived two days before the deadline. The report claims the possibility of joining them was 'very firm', before the player rejected the move.

Almeida believes a move from Valencia to Nottingham Forest wouldn't have been a step up for him. He's waiting for the Spanish club to offer him an improved deal, something that has been already promised.
