Newcastle United Set To Rekindle Their Interest In This Nottingham Forest Star This January: Good Fit For Howe?

In a recent report, journalist Pete O'Rourke stated that Newcastle United are set to rekindle their interest in Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga this January. It has been claimed that the Magpies are eyeing a move to bring the Swedish talent to Tyneside when the transfer window commences at the start of next year.

Elanga's Impressive Form At Nottingham Forest Last Season Elanga had a fruitful season at the City Ground recently as he was responsible for putting in a string of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Swedish playmaker did well to register five goals and secure nine assists in 39 matches for Nottingham last season across all competitions.

The 22-year-old was a decent contributor in the opponent's half based on his average of 1.5 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He was even careful when distributing possession after completing 75.3% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

Elanga is under contract at the Midlands club until the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for Newcastle to snap him up on the cheap this winter.

Elanga would add more goals and creativity to Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe's frontline. He might even help the Magpies challenge across all fronts in the coming years. At 22, Elanga has the potential to be a future star in English football. Therefore, he would be a good fit for the Tyneside club's needs in the long run.

Howe would fancy unlocking the best out of the Swedish wing wizard in the future. He already knows the Premier League well and won't take much time to adjust to life at St. James' Park.
