Report: The price Nottingham Forest set for any club trying to buy Morgan Gibbs-White this summer
Source:Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White will be hoping to become the proud owner of an England cap this weekend.

The Three Lions face the Republic of Ireland and it will be the first game since Gareth Southgate departed after defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

Lee Carsley is the interim manager and in calling up Forest star Gibbs-White along with Noni Madueke and Angel Gomes, the under-21 band is very much back together.

Gibbs-White has been knocking on the door since he signed for Forest. Last season he came of age, with six goals and 10 assists as the Reds remained a Premier League club again.

Earlier this week, Neco Williams called Gibbs-White the best player at Forest and his importance to the team doesn't go unrecognised among the City Ground fan base.

Instead, the likes of Moussa Niakhate, Orel Mangala, Odysseas Vlachodimos and Joe Worrall were offloaded to balance the books and stay with the PSR requirements.

MORE FOREST STORIES

It's claimed that any club who wanted to sign Gibbs-White this summer would have needed PS70 million to convince Forest that selling him was the right thing to do.

That serves to highlight that not only do the club view him as the best player in the squad but by placing such a bounty on his head they're informing every Premier League team that he's not for sale.

Gibbs-White is going to the top Hopefully, Gibbs-White can get on the pitch in one of the two England games during this international break and Forest might even be able to add something to his valuation then.

The attacking midfielder is quite clearly the Reds' best player and the chances he creates are never unnoticed when it comes to those who compile the stats every week.

Gibbs-White will play for a team playing in a European competition one day during his club career and there will come a point when Forest have little choice but to sell.

Forest have learned a lot when it comes to recruitment in the last couple of years, however - and this news is positive from a supporter's perspective.

It highlights that although players might well outgrow Forest, the club won't be held at ransom into dropping their prices for top talent to be poached.

In our view, PS70 million would be a very fair price given that it would give Forest a significant profit on what the club paid for Gibbs-White when signing him from Wolves.

The hope at least for another year or two, however, is that Gibbs-White can remain at Forest and help the club finish in a higher Premier League position than the club has for the last two seasons.
