Szoboszlai's Liverpool transfer decision The father of Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed that his son turned down a move to two other teams in favour of moving to Liverpool. One of the teams being another unnamed side from England.

The Hungarian completed a move to Anfield last summer, joining from German side RB Leipzig. The 23-year-old saw his season disrupted by injury after initially impressing, but he has started all three games so far this campaign.

His dad has now explained how he came to the decision to move to Anfield. The choice was made despite interest from two other clubs.

"He built up in stages, from Salzburg to Leipzig to Liverpool. We talked about the move to England together," he told the Athletic about his son's move to Liverpool.

"There was an Italian team and another English team but we decided on Liverpool - a club with great history and tradition, who could keep Dominik heading in the right direction. He can achieve whatever he wants to achieve."

International impact The first international break of the season means keeping an eye on how players representing their nations over the next few days are doing, with fingers also crossed over no injury blows. Wataru Endo was in action for Japan earlier today in their World Cup qualifier against China.

The Liverpool man opened the floodgates by scoring the opener in a 7-0 win. The game also saw former Liverpool man Takumi Minamino score a brace.

Endo has struggled for game time so far this season under Slot, playing just one minute as a late substitute against Brentford. But he is not worried about the lack of game time and is confident he will get his chance to show what he can do.

"When the international break is finished there is a run of games so I'll get more chances," he said, via Yahoo! Sports. "You can't just use 11 players when you have a lot of games. I'm sure I'll get my turn."

He added: "My physical condition won't be a problem. I've been training well and I'm not worried about it."
