Report: 30-goal striker suffers devastating blow just days after Nottingham Forest saw bid rejected
Source:Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest tried to sign a number of strikers during the summer transfer window but to no avail.

The Reds targeted Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez for a lot of the summer but the player rejected Forest more than once.

Eddie Nketiah was another on the shortlist but he spoke with Oliver Glasner and chose to reject Forest ahead of a move to Crystal Palace instead.

When those two deals had gone south, the club tried to sign Omar Marmoush but he was talked out of a move to Forest by Eintracht Frankfurt.

Another player who was linked with a move to the club was Flamengo striker Pedro.

Forest made a bid of PS20 million for the talisman but it ended in disappointment for the Reds as the Brazilian outfit decided the bid wasn't enough.

Now, it's been confirmed by Globo that the striker is facing a prolonged spell on the sidelines after suffering an ACL injury.

MORE FOREST STORIES

The cruel blow came during a Brazil training session on Wednesday and it's anticipated that the striker will be out for a considerable amount of time.

It's claimed in the report that the injury is so severe that there is no chance of Forest reigniting their interest in the player when the January window opens.

Pedro has enjoyed a brilliant 2024, scoring 30 goals in all competitions and has really kicked on after a failed spell in Italy with Fiorentina.

Forest should move on from Pedro Aside from four games in Italy, Pedro has never played in Europe and at 27-years-old, he's probably in his prime.

As a result, the Reds would be better to move on from Pedro and focus their attention on a striker who is proven in Europe and who could come in and make an instant impact.

When it comes to landing players from Brazil, it really is a case of the younger the better and Pedro is perhaps too far along the line to make a real impact in the Premier League.

It's extremely cruel that Pedro has suffered this injury and his focus right now will be returning from it and getting back to his best.

With such a serious injury there will always be caution and taking everything into consideration, Pedro is just too much of a risk now.
