According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are considering a move for Juventus defender Gleison Bremer. The Reds were linked with the centre-back during the summer transfer window before he signed a new contract with the Serie A giants.

Bremer's new deal runs until the summer of 2029, and despite putting pen to paper on fresh terms the defender is still being linked with an exit. The report claims that Liverpool have identified Bremer as the player they want to replace Virgil van Dijk.

It has been stated that Van Dijk, who is currently out of contract next summer, could move to Saudi Arabia were he to leave Liverpool when his deal expires. As a result, the report claims that the Reds have already identified Bremer as the "long-term replacement" for the Netherlands international in the future.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are being credited with an interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. The Reds were heavily linked with signing a defensive midfielder during the summer transfer window, having identified Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi as a target before he decided to remain at La Real.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are monitoring Wharton's progress at Palace with a view to a move in the future. However, the Reds will seemingly face competition from both Manchester City and Newcastle United for his signature.

Wharton was tentatively linked with Liverpool in the summer but the midfielder remained at Selhurst Park. It remains to be seen if the Reds will target an alternative to Zubimendi in January or wait until next summer to make a decision on strengthening the midfield.
