Source: Nottingham Forest

Saturday evening could mark a historic day for Morgan Gibbs-White following his call-up to the England national squad.

The Nottingham Forest midfielder has received his first ever call-up to the senior England squad following Lee Carsley's appointment as the interim manager.

Having been left out by Gareth Southgate during his time as the Three Lions' manager, Gibbs-White is now awaiting his first cap for the senior side.

With a few days of training now under his belt at St George's Park, the Forest midfielder has travelled over to Dublin where England will take on Ireland.

And it seems as if there is some hope over the 24-year-old playing from the start under his former England U21 manager.

However, the illustrious debut for the senior side has escaped him so far but there is now a real chance of him getting over the line.

With Cole Palmer and Phil Foden out through injury, there is a real opportunity on Saturday evening for Gibbs-White to make an impression.

According to TalkSPORT's Alex Crook, Gibbs-White is now hopeful of being named in the starting XI by Carsley against Ireland.

It will be a huge boost for the Forest midfielder if he is able to secure himself his first cap for the national side.

And it will be one which has been fully deserved as Gibbs-White is only joined by Palmer in the most chances created this season.

Forest need to secure Morgan Gibbs-White to a new contract Having continued his fine form from last term into the new season, Forest need to tie Gibbs-White down to a new deal.

The likes of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have already shown an interest in Gibbs-White over the summer.

But it looks as if the England international is not set to be rewarded for his impressive displays at the City Ground.

Forest are now expected to open contract talks with Gibbs-White over a new and improved deal to make him the club's top earner.
