Morgan Gibbs-White now has two reasons to be worried about Elliot Anderson's form at Nottingham Forest - opinion

Nottingham Forest have remained unbeaten for three games since losing to Fulham and two of those games have seen Morgan Gibbs-White missing from the team.

The England international picked up an injury to his ankle in the game at Stamford Bridge and has been recovering ever since.

For the game against Crystal Palace a week ago, he was actually suspended after being given an extra game for his conduct after seeing red against Brighton last month.

Nuno Espirito Santo hinted that he might return for Forest against Leicester but when the team was announced, Gibbs-White was an absentee and instead, he sat in the stands.

The man tasked with replacing Gibbs-White in the Forest team has been Elliot Anderson.

The man signed for PS35 million from Newcastle was in fine form against Leicester, with Gary Neville raving about Anderson for his performance.

It's been claimed previously too that Evangelos Marinakis pushed to sign Anderson in the event that Gibbs-White leaves in the future - with the player fancied as having a similar profile.

MORE FOREST STORIESAnderson, however, has grabbed this opportunity to play as a number 10 with both hands and has been brilliant in the games against Palace and Leicester.

It's hard to imagine him being dropped against West Ham at the weekend and perhaps Gibbs-White will have to settle for a place on the bench if he does return from injury.

Now, it might not be just the Forest shirt that Anderson is looking to take from Gibbs-White, with England liking the look of the 21-year-old.

According to the Daily Mail, Anderson is set to be called into the senior squad for games against Greece and the Republic of Ireland next month.

He's impressed the Football Association after swapping Scotland for England and starring for the under-21 outfit and it remains to be seen if a possible inclusion comes at the expense of Gibbs-White.

Anderson and Gibbs-White provide Espirito Santo with a Forest conundrum It's great to see the level of depth in place at Forest these days and that is typified by this dilemma that is evolving over Gibbs-White and Anderson.

The two players are both quality but ultimately something - or someone - will have to give in the Forest team.

With Ryan Yates and Nicolas Dominguez both playing rather well at the moment too, it doesn't feel like there is much space in the middle of the park either.

That means it looks like being a case of one or the other when it comes to Anderson or Gibbs-White and that does provide a bit of a problem for Espirito Santo.

Both players perhaps bring different qualities to the team and it's fair to say that whichever player gets the nod, supporters will be relatively pleased.

Right now, Anderson has taken Gibbs-White's place in the Forest team and in the long run he will be hoping that he doesn't deny him more England caps too.
