'Back-to-back': Troy Deeney claims Nottingham Forest player is proving people all wrong this season
Source:Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest beat Leicester City 3-1 at the King Power Stadium on Friday to claim East Midlands bragging rights.

With Derby busy drawing with teams like Oxford and Hull, that rivalry has gone stale and it feels a bit weird that the club doesn't have a proper derby day to look forward to.

As a result of that, many will now view Leicester as the main rival for Forest, although from a fan point of view, it's always a game that will mean far more to them than us.

There were a number of top performers at Leicester on Friday.

Elliot Anderson was praised by Gary Neville, whilst Ryan Yates was also in top form.

The Reds are up to seventh in the Premier League after nine matches and supporters can start to get excited as the club looks to truly stabilise in the top division.

After overlooking every Forest player following a 1-0 win over Liverpool in September he's now named two Reds stars in his team this week.

Deeney hailed Ryan Yates for his performance during this week's piece and also included Chris Wood for a second successive week.

MORE FOREST STORIESHe told BBC Sport: "He has been scoring goals all season and coming up big when he needs to.

Two massive goals on a huge night against rivals Leicester.

"Big Chris still delivers.

Look at the age bracket.

Apparently now you only have to be 23 and all you can do is sprint and run, but this guy is showing it is good to have a little bit of experience and it is back-to-back times he has been the striker in our team.

"Wood finally getting the praise he deserves This season, Wood will almost certainly become the best goalscorer in history for Forest when it comes to goals scored in Premier League matches.

That will be something that he's keen to achieve pretty quickly and hopefully, he can surpass the 14 Premier League goals that he bagged last season.

Wood's arrival at Forest was met with some pretty harsh criticism but ultimately, the club decided to do what they thought was right and add a Premier League striker to the ranks.

He's worked hard at his game since arriving on Trentside and now he's finally getting his flowers as a top professional and thoroughly good player.

Wood will want to keep scoring goals as the season progresses and it does look only a matter of time before a new contract offer is in the offing.
