Nottingham Forest claimed the East Midlands bragging rights on Friday night as former boss Steve Cooper was put to the sword by the club he departed in December.

Leicester were no match for Forest and from the moment Chris Wood put Nuno Espirito Santo's team back in front just after half-time, there was little doubt that the Reds would win.

As supporters, we'd seen that Steve Cooper film before.

It's like one of those that you don't really enjoy the first time and you scrunch your face up when someone suggests replaying it.

On Friday, however, Cooper was in the other dugout and his team's incapabilities to play for a full 90 minutes reared their ugly head and Forest took full advantage of the situation.

Troy Deeney named Chris Wood and Ryan Yates in his BBC Sport Team of the Week.

Both players were in the goals at the Kind Power Stadium and richly deserved their accolade.

Elsewhere, Gary Neville picked out Elliot Anderson for a bit of praise on Sky Sports.

The PS35 million player was replacing the injured Morgan Gibbs-White and he has really enjoyed operating as a number 10.

Wood goes without saying but he's also chosen to include Ola Aina in the team after his strong performance during the 90 minutes from right-back.

MORE FOREST STORIESAina has made that position his own this season, with Alex Moreno bringing some balance to the left-hand side of the pitch after his loan signing from Aston Villa in the summer.

Shearer said on the Premier League's official website about Aina's performance: "A superb shift from Aina.

Leicester City had almost no joy down his side of the pitch on Friday.

"Forest offer Aina new contract It's been claimed in the last 24 hours that Forest are keen to open negotiations to keep Aina at the City Ground beyond the end of his current deal which expires in the summer.

At 27, Aina is at the peak of his powers and ultimately Forest can't afford to be letting players of his ilk leave for free regardless of how little time they've spent at the football club.

Aina is a player who gives his all whenever he's called upon and Callum Hudson-Odoi says he's the player getting everyone fired up for matches in the dressing room beforehand.

He can't be allowed to leave the club any time soon and hopefully, a quick round of talks can see Aina pledge his future to Forest ahead of his very best years as a full-back.
