Nottingham Forest ace Murillo continues to attract plenty of attention as the January transfer window looms.

The centre-back is currently on duty with Brazil after his fine form for the Reds earned him a first call-up to the national team.

But the key role he has played for Nuno Espirito Santo's side has also done little to quash speculation about his future.

According to TBR Football, scouts from European heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid attended the City Ground last weekend to watch Forest's clash with Newcastle United.

They are said to have been keen to check out Murillo, as well as Magpies duo Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes.

Spanish publication Sport also identifies the two clubs as being particularly keen on the Reds defender, and they will have watched him score his first goal in the Garibaldi in Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Newcastle.

It is said Barca have been receiving updates on him since his time at Corinthians, where he made his breakthrough into senior football before making the move to Forest in the summer of 2023.

The Spanish giants reportedly continue to monitor his progress.

Meanwhile, it is said Real Madrid view Murillo as someone who can meet their current defensive needs.

But it is not just abroad where the 22-year-old has admirers.

He also has several Premier League teams keeping tabs on him.

TEAMtalk report the centre-back is emerging as a "key target" for Liverpool.

It is said the table-toppers have their sights set on strengthening their defensive options, regardless of whether Virgil van Dijk departs when his contract expires next year.

Murillo is also said to have "made an impression" on transfer chiefs at Chelsea.

According to TEAMtalk, the Blues are "expected" to battle with Liverpool if a move does appear to be on the cards for the Brazilian in 2025.

Prior to the international break, however, Reds head coach Nuno Espirito Santo reiterated the importance of hanging on to key players.

Forest retained the core of their squad in the summer, despite interest in several of their star men, and they will hope they can do so again in January.

"What I value the most is that we were able to keep the core of the squad (in the summer).

That is the best step forward we can have," Nuno said last week.

"When your players perform so well, you can expect other clubs to come in and try to take them.

It is up to the club to create a situation to keep them, develop them and improve them.

And if the right moment comes (to sell), do it.

But I think after the two years we had as a club, this decision our ownership made to keep the core of the squad was huge and it is very valuable for us.
