Micah Richards insists Nottingham Forest have got themselves a gem in Murillo.

The Brazilian joined the Reds from Corinthians this past summer and has quickly established himself in Steve Cooper's team. Murillo has so far made six appearances - all from the start.

Despite playing in Europe for the first time in his career, the centre-back has adapted well to the demands of Premier League football. His performance levels has certainly caught the eye of Richards.

"They really have [got a gem], only 21-years-of-age," he told Sky Sports. "As a defender, you want to see him doing the basics, look at his tackling, his positioning, can he recover? He's got all that, but he's got more as well. He's got that gold dust, he can play out of the back and he can do it in abundance.

"He's taking people on, one pass, and if he scored that, it'd be absolutely wonderful. He's magic, to have the confidence to do this in a new league, it's great. However, there is the other side to it - there is that risk. It will cost you a goal at times but he's got to keep doing it because he'll learn from it, I made plenty of mistakes as a young defender as well, and it's about how he can grow from that."
