'I can say': Fabrizio Romano shares what he now knows about Chelsea and Andrey Santos after poor loan so far

Chelsea are watching Andrey Santos' situation at Nottingham Forest closely.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano's latest Substack column.

Andrey Santos joined Forest on loan during the summer transfer window but is yet to feature for Steve Cooper's side in the Premier League.

Romano has now stated that October will be a crucial month for understanding what is going to happen with the midfielder and also said: "I can say Chelsea are obviously monitoring the situation closely."

Recall in January? If Santos continues to be overlooked by Cooper, then you would expect Chelsea to recall the 19-year-old.

There is always the possibility that Forest cut his loan spell short as well if he is not playing and they feel they have no need for him.

Forest, though, do not owe Chelsea anything and it is not their job to develop the Blues' players. They are doing pretty well in the Premier League at the moment, sitting just outside the top 10, so it would be understandable if Cooper was reluctant to take a risk and make an inexperienced midfielder like Santos a starter now.
