Former USMNT goalkeeper Kasey Keller has spoken out on Matt Turner after his latest mistake for his national side.
Turner, who has recently been dropped by the Forest starting eleven by Steve Cooper, failed to keep out a free-kick as the USA lost 2-1 to Trinidad and Tobago.
It looks as though Turner is low on confidence after the last couple of weeks which is completely understandable.
However, Keller who won the League Cup with Leicester City, claimed that Turner needs to stand up and prove a point to everyone after his poor form.
Speaking on ESPN's Soccer FC podcast, Keller admitted he feels for Turner but he needs to find his feet for club and country once again.
"It's tough for Matt [Turner] leaving Arsenal for [Nottingham] Forest everyone thought it was his dream move as he'd get regular first-team football.
"After a couple of mistakes, he gets dropped and he gets a chance to come away to the national team in a familiar surrounding and put it in everyone's mind why Forest bought.
"Unfortunately for Matt, he's put in everyone's mind why Forest dropped him, you feel for him but the only thing you can do when things get tough is to prove to people why you got to where you got to.
"It's how you come out the other end, but who knows when he's going to play regular first-team football for Forest again.
"Turner set to stay on the sidelines for Forest It's hard not to feel a bit of sympathy for Turner.
He started the campaign well but from the moment Vlachodimos came in, he's started to feel the heat a little bit.
His error against Liverpool proved the final straw for Turner.
Vlachodimos came in for the following game against Aston Villa and produced an effortless performance to keep a clean sheet.
Turner will now likely remain as the second in command between the posts for Forest this season.
It's important to have two good goalkeepers at the club and the player will hope that perhaps the FA Cup offers him another chance to play during 2023/24.
