Former Sheffield Wednesday forward Clinton Morrison insists that current manager Danny Rohl should be crowned Championship Manager of the Season. Despite Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna receiving the award, Morrison argues that if Sheffield Wednesday manage to avoid relegation, it would be a testament to Rohl's exceptional leadership.
Rohl assumed his role as manager in October after Xisco Munoz was sacked due to a disastrous start with just two points from their first ten games. At one point, they were twelve points adrift from safety. However, thanks to Rohl's tactical acumen and ability to motivate his players, The Owls now only need a draw against Sunderland on the final day of fixtures to secure their Championship status.
Morrison commended both McKenna and Ipswich for their impressive campaign but emphasized that what Rhol has achieved is equally commendable given Sheffield Wednesday's dire situation earlier this season: "They were cut adrift and everyone thought Sheffield Wednesday were gone; you have to give huge credit [to] him."
The former Birmingham player also touched upon another relegation battle involving one of his former teams Birmingham City. He expressed surprise regarding John Eustace being let go as manager while acknowledging Wayne Rooney's prior success at Derby County. With Gary Rowett currently leading Birmingham City into their final match against Norwich City, who are already secured in playoff positions, Morrison predicts victory for his old club:
"I make them favorites because Norwich are already in playoffs I expect them to win, I'm confident."
Additionally, Morrison recently visited Walkwood Church of England Middle School in Redditch as an EFL ambassador. The school's team will represent West Bromwich Albion in the Utilita Kids Cup Championship final at Wembley Stadium on May 26th. Impressed by their unbeaten run and determination, Morrison delivered a motivational speech to inspire them: "They're going to have an opportunity that some of the top players in the world haven't ever had... It was good to come and talk to them I wish them well and want them to go and do it now."
