Barry Bannan has highlighted the 'unbelievable' thing that has 'never changed' at Sheffield Wednesday.
Barry Bannan joined Sheffield Wednesday from Premier League outfit Crystal Palace in 2015.
No one would have expected the midfielder to earn such legendary status at Hillsborough, having now racked up over 400 appearances.
In the nine years that Bannan has been with Sheffield Wednesday, he has also been named in the PFA Team of the Year three times and the EFL League One Team of the Season twice, as well as winning the SWFC Community Player of the Year the Sheffield Wednesday Player of the Year and the EFL Goal of the Season.
And while he played a key role in the Owls winning the play-offs last season, it hasn't all been positive during his time in Yorkshire.
Bannan was part of the squad that were relegated in 2021 and is now desperate to avoid the same fate this weekend.
Despite a turbulent campaign back in the Championship, Bannan has praised the one 'unbelievable' thing that has 'never changed' during his time with Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday fans have always been 'unbelievable' Speaking on BBC Football Daily podcast, the captain said: "I've been lucky enought to have this backing for the last nine years, so it comes as no great surprise to me how good the fans are. They're a massive club and they probably don't deserve to be where they are, but this is the situation we find ourselves in and they have bought into that.

"This season, as I've touched on, there's been loads of downs and there are a little ups here and there, but they have never changed their support for the club. They've been unbelieveable all season, and like I said, they don't deserve to be where they are at the minute. They've been fantastic and they obviously play a big part in turning Hillsborough into a hard place to come. They don't demand a lot, to be honest to them.
"So they just want 100% effort and you'll get that back, and recently they've seen loads of that and they've responded."
Can the supporters spur them on to survival now? Sheffield Wednesday's support has undeniably played a huge part in their revival over the last seven months.
Danny Rohl has spearheaded their gradual climb up the table, but you only have to look at their home form to see the impact supporters have had.
Wednesday have lost only one of their nine games on home soil - picking up 16 points from a possible 26.
Unfortunately, their future in the Championship will be determined on the road this weekend, but that doesn't mean the fans can't continue to be the twelfth man.
