Aston Villa youngster Louie Barry is enjoying a successful loan spell with Stockport County after joining the League Two club in the summer.

After failing to score in his first three league games for the club, the 20-year-old has now gone from strength to strength. His goal in Saturday's 3-1 win over Accrington Stanley was the seventh goal he has scored in a row, having netted in each of his previous six League Two games.

Following reports that Villa could consider recalling the striker in the January window, his goals have seen him set a new club record for Stockport for games in a row scored in. Following the match he took to social media to give his response.

"Buzzing to break the record for @stockportcountyofficial," he wrote on Instagram. "Huge win to go with it as well. Keep it moving..."

That post prompted a reaction from a number of well know faces, including former Birmingham City man Jude Bellingham, who now plays for Real Madrid. The England midfielder simply wrote "wow" along with a fire emoji.

Villa man Jacob Ramsey also responded by writing: "L Baz" along with a fire emoji. Timothy Iroegbunam and fellow Villa loanee Finn Azaz were also among those to respond.

The move to Stockport is the latest of a few loan deals that Barry has been on since 2021, with some more successful than others. The youngster scored just once in 32 appearances for MK Dons last season, and twice in 21 appearances for Salford City.

He has also spent time with Swindon Town, where he scored six times in 16 appearances, and Ipswich Town where he failed to score in six outings. Barry joined Villa from Barcelona in 2020 after coming up through the youth team at West Brom.
