Goodison View: Underperforming Everton player to finally be dropped as news emerges this week

Sean Dyche may finally decide to wield the axe on Everton summer signing Ashley Young after his below-par performances of late.

The England international has had some shockers in the past few weeks and seems to be off the pace against some of the pacey attackers in the Premier League.

Signed over the summer as a backup option, Young has found himself getting an unexpected number of playing minutes for the first team.

However, given Seamus Coleman's injury and Dyche's apparent lack of trust in Nathan Patterson, Young has been the first choice option.

At 38, one would expect no better from the full-back and the time may have come for Coleman to return to the playing eleven.

The Republic of Ireland international has played for the under-21s recently and is understood to be close to match fitness.

Over the international break, he will perhaps play a game or two to get his sharpness up to the level where he can make his first-team return.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Goodison News on 13 November, Dr Rajpal Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

"If he's responding well to the matches, the next step would be bounce matches with the first team.

If that checks out, then he will be greenlighted for longer stretches.

"He could be back in contention after the break if things go as per plan for Everton."

This could just be the update that Dyche would've wanted and hopefully, Coleman is ready to return to the eleven against Manchester United.

In other Everton news, the purchase price for the 777 Partners takeover now hinges on one condition as sources finally speak out.
