It turns out that Joao Felix inadvertently had an important role in Tottenham Hotspur signing one player during the previous summer transfer window.
Joao Felix ended up joining Barcelona in the final hours of the window. The Portuguese joined the Catalan giants on loan from Atletico Madrid, as his time in the Spanish capital continues to struggle to really get going.
Tottenham actually showed interest in Joao Felix - who spent the second-half of last season on loan at Chelsea - before his switch to Barca. But as the 24-year-old was moving to Catalonia, Ange Postecoglou's side were welcoming an attacker of their own.
Brennan Johnson became the only first-team forward Tottenham signed after the sale of Harry Kane in the summer.
According to a report from The Telegraph, the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea were all admirers of the 22-year-old. But the most serious interest would, it seems, come from Atletico Madrid and Tottenham.
Joao Felix not moving sooner helped Tottenham complete summer deal Of course, Tottenham would ultimately win the race in a PS47.5 million deal. But The Telegraph reports that Atleti made a PS42.9 million offer of their own for the Welshman.

So Felix moving later in the window helped leave the door open for Tottenham to complete a deal in the final hours before the deadline.
Bright future ahead of Brennan Johnson after late Spurs switch It has proved to be an encouraging first season in North London for the youngster. Johnson has come in for criticism at times. But he has also scored four goals and contributed six assists in 25 Premier League games for Postecoglou's side.
The fact that he arrived so late in the day has to be taken into consideration when you assess his form, as does his age.
He is an 'incredible' talent. And it will be exciting to see how he gets on with a full pre-season under his belt.
