BBC Sport pundit predicts result of Leeds clash v 'Ugly' Leicester, last-min winner on the cards

BBC Sport pundit Ben Parker has praised Leicester City for "winning ugly", but believes Leeds United can end the Foxes' winning run on Friday (3 November).

Leicester have made the best start to a season of any side in Championship history after 14 matches, having taken 39 points from the first 42 on offer.

Enzo Maresca's men have won an incredible 13 of their opening 14 matches, including a run of nine successive victories ahead of Leeds' visit to the King Power Stadium.

United have themselves made a positive start to the campaign, however, and former left-back Parker - who now works as a pundit for BBC among others - has predicted an upset of sorts in the East Midlands.

"I think it's a good marker for both sides to see where we're at. I don't think it's season defining, and a draw would be a decent point," he told told LS11 podcast [2 November, 50m 3s].

"The first half against Huddersfield was a performance I've not seen from any Championship side all season.

"Leicester are winning games, but they've not been tearing teams apart. The difference between us and them is that they're winning ugly. It makes for a fantastic game.

"If we have the same team I'd go with no changes. We should fear nobody. The challenge is whether we can get to Leicester's level.

"A point would be good, but I think we're gonna nick it towards the end. Last 10 mins, get a winner and win 2-1."

Positive thinking

Parker sums it up nicely in that a point away at Leicester would be a good result, but that is not to say Leeds should not head there targeting all three.

Leicester have made a record-breaking start to the campaign since following Leeds in being relegated from the Premier League last season, with Hull City the only side to stop them winning - and even that was over two months ago.

Daniel Farke's side produced one of the best displays of any side all season last weekend in crushing Huddersfield Town 4-1, scoring all four of those goals in a ruthless first half before dropping off.

Four wins from their past five matches leaves Leeds third in the division, although the gap on Ipswich Town in second is nine points, and the surprise package also have a game in hand.

If United are serious about challenging for automatic promotion, then they cannot really afford for that gap to widen this weekend.

It will be extremely tough, but this showdown with Leicester presents the ideal chance to lay down an almighty marker to the rest of the division.

In other Leeds United news, one of Farke's key men posted a cryptic message on social media earlier this week.
